Current Concerns

UPDATED 16th December 2016

Federal Bill - call for all Australian supporters to contact their Senators!

Senator David Leyonhjelm introduced the Restoring Territory Rights (Assisted Suicide Legislation) Bill 2015 on the 2nd of December 2015. The bill seeks to overturn the Euthanasia Laws Act 1997. If successful, this would enable the single chamber parliaments of the Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory to introduce euthanasia legislation.

Note: The Euthanasia Laws Act 1997 overturned or nullified the world's first euthanasia law passed in the Northern Territory in 1995.

This bill was restored to the Notice Paper following the Federal Election.
